Coastal vacations can be filled with sun soaked days on the beach or interesting rainy day stroll through a museum. The East coast has many cities that offer exciting, educational and most of all fun-filled coastal vacations, but Myrtle Beach, South Carolina has always been a big tourist destination.
After you find lodging, you will probably want to hit the beach. Myrtle Beach offers over 60 miles of beach. It is a perfect area for water sports like scuba diving, parasailing, windsurfing or boating. If you visit during the months of April through October, you can enter the Grand Strand Fishing Rodeo. Your catch can win merchandise or even cash.
After a long day at the beach, you will probably be hungry. There are many great restaurants in Myrtle Beach. If you love racing, you will want to visit the Nascar Cafe for such menu items as Jarrett BBQ Chicken and Ribs, Nextel Cup Rings or Bill France Pork Chops. If you are more starstruck than race fan, you can visit either the Planet Hollywood or the Hard Rock Café for a scrumptious meal.
If you visit this coastal city, you do not want to miss the Carolina Opry. It has consistently been voted the best show by the Sun News and won the Governor’s Cup as a great South Carolina attraction. When you visit here, you will hear the best in all types of music – country, Broadway tunes, rock-n-roll, pop, gospel. There are even comedy routines to tickle your funny bone.
If you have children, they will love the exhibits at the Children's Museum of South Carolina. The can visit Bubble Mania, Stuffie, Fairway Physics or the Aquarium. Myrtle Beach also has many miniature golf courses, two amusement parks and a water park for family fun.
